SAP OS Collector

We are running SAP on Red Hat Linux VM’s and have just embarked on a round of OS updates.

Everything seemed to be OK … until we checked history in SAP.

While saposcol starts and runs without any problems the log (/usr/sap/tmp/dev_coll) tells a different story, it is filled with errors similar to:

ERROR: can not determine current Linux kernel version --> exiting
: No such file or directory

SAP Note 1629588 reports exactly this problem with a Linux v3 kernel, which is exactly what we are running now, 3.10.0-327.10.1.
There are SAP kernel and saposcol patches available which appear to be the only resolution.

Unfortunately, the result is that there is no history available, nor will there be until the SAP patches are applied.
